Hortense Jongen works on the authority of peer-review mechanisms of the OECD, the Council of Europe and the UN in the field of anti-corruption.
She holds degrees in European Studies (BA, cum laude) from Maastricht University and Political Science (MSc, cum laude) from the University of Amsterdam. During her Bachelor’s she spent a semester as an exchange student at the University of Tartu in Estonia. Hortense successfully defended her PhD manuscript ‘Combating corruption the soft way: the authority of peer reviews in the global fight against graft’ on 15 September 2017. She currently works as a postdoctoral researcher at the School of Global Studies in Goeteborg, Sweden.
In 2018, Maastricht University awarded Hortense with the UM Dissertation prize.
