Powerful Numbers for Effective Outcomes – What Role for Global Monitoring to Achieve Sustainable Development?
The aim of the research is to shed light on the significance of global and transnational monitoring mechanisms for achieving sustainable development objectives. The PhD project adopts a complementary perspective to the umbrella project, as it focuses on the role of specific features of monitoring, such as the collection and use of (mainly quantitative) data and the importance for accountability. The research will answer the following main research question: To what extent and under which conditions do global/transnational monitoring mechanisms develop authority in the field of sustainable development?
